AI Marketing Consensus Index / Publication standards

Data Licensing & Research Use

AI Marketing Consensus Index is built around structured research into how leading AI platforms recommend:

  • AI search agencies
  • GEO and AEO providers
  • AI visibility platforms
  • LLM monitoring tools
  • AI search audit providers
  • AI market intelligence platforms
  • AI citation services
  • Authority-building providers
  • AI SEO tools
  • Content optimization software

The public articles on this website are one output of that research. The underlying research may also include structured datasets containing information such as:

  • Research prompts
  • AI platform responses
  • Recommendation occurrences
  • Recommendation coverage
  • Recommendation position
  • Company normalization
  • Citation occurrences
  • Citation sources
  • Prompt-level results
  • Category-level results
  • Research dates
  • Verification dates
  • Historical snapshots
  • Competitive changes over time

Some of this research may be made publicly available. Some may be available through licensing, custom research, reports, or related data products. This page explains how AI Marketing Consensus Index research may be used and how commercial data relationships are kept separate from our ranking methodology.

The Dataset Is a Core Part of the Project

AI Marketing Consensus Index is not designed simply as a collection of articles. The underlying research dataset is central to the project. The public article explains: what we found. The structured dataset records: how we got there. Over time, this may allow us to study questions such as:

  • Which GEO agencies are gaining recommendation share?
  • Which AI visibility platforms are recommended most consistently?
  • Which companies dominate specific AI marketing use cases?
  • Which brands appear differently across ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity, Grok, DeepSeek, and Kimi?
  • Which companies gain or lose AI recommendation visibility over time?
  • Which sources are cited most frequently?
  • How does citation visibility compare with recommendation visibility?
  • Which competitors emerge in new categories?
  • How stable are AI recommendations from one research cycle to another?

Historical data can make those questions more valuable than a single ranking.

LLM Authority Index and the Research Data Layer

LLM Authority Index provides AI research data and measurement infrastructure supporting AI Marketing Consensus Index. Depending on the research project, this may include support for:

  • AI response collection
  • Recommendation measurement
  • Citation measurement
  • Prompt-level tracking
  • Competitive benchmarking
  • Historical analysis
  • Data structuring
  • Research infrastructure

Certain datasets or related research products may therefore involve data, technology, intellectual property, or licensed rights provided by LLM Authority Index. Any use or licensing of those materials may be subject to additional terms.

CiteWorks Studio and Research Application

CiteWorks Studio provides AI search strategy and subject-matter support to AI Marketing Consensus Index. Its contribution may help identify:

  • Commercially meaningful research questions
  • AI search use cases
  • GEO/AEO distinctions
  • Citation and authority concepts
  • Competitive intelligence needs
  • Practical applications of AI visibility data

CiteWorks Studio may also use licensed or publicly available research in connection with strategy, analysis, consulting, or client work where permitted. Its relationship with AI Marketing Consensus Index does not give it the ability to change research outcomes.

Public Research and Licensed Data Are Different

Not everything published on AI Marketing Consensus Index carries the same usage rights. There is an important distinction between:

Public Editorial Content

Such as:

  • Articles
  • Summaries
  • Rankings
  • Charts
  • Research findings
  • Methodology explanations

and:

Structured or Licensed Research Data

Such as:

  • Full prompt-level datasets
  • Historical recommendation records
  • Bulk ranking data
  • Citation datasets
  • Competitive intelligence datasets
  • Raw or normalized response data
  • Custom exports
  • Machine-readable files
  • Private dashboards
  • Research feeds

Public access to an article does not automatically create permission to copy or redistribute the underlying dataset in bulk.

You May Cite Our Published Research

We encourage responsible citation of publicly available AI Marketing Consensus Index research. Reasonable editorial use may include:

  • Referring to a published ranking
  • Reporting a research finding
  • Quoting a limited portion of our analysis
  • Discussing our methodology
  • Comparing our findings with other research
  • Linking to a study
  • Citing a statistic with attribution

Where practical, attribution should identify: AI Marketing Consensus Index and link to the original study.

Suggested Attribution

A simple attribution may look like: According to AI Marketing Consensus Index, Not yet supplied, based on research conducted across multiple AI platforms in Not yet supplied. For more formal research use: AI Marketing Consensus Index, “Not yet supplied,” research conducted Not yet supplied, Not yet supplied. If a specific dataset version or research snapshot is identified, include that version where practical.

Please Preserve the Research Date

AI recommendation research changes over time. If you cite a finding such as: Company A was recommended by six of seven AI platforms the research date matters. A result from January should not be presented as though it were measured in September unless the study was rerun. Whenever practical, preserve:

  • Research date
  • Study title
  • Relevant category
  • Version or snapshot identifier

A Ranking Is a Research Snapshot

Published rankings should not be represented as permanent certifications. For example: Company A ranked #1 in the September 2026 AI Marketing Consensus Index study. is more accurate than: AI Marketing Consensus Index says Company A is permanently the best platform. Research can change. AI systems can change. Markets can change.

You May Link to Our Research

We welcome ordinary links to publicly accessible pages on AI Marketing Consensus Index. Linking to our research does not require a commercial license. We prefer links to the original research page rather than copied or reconstructed versions of the study.

Limited Quotations Are Generally Appropriate

Reasonable quotation of limited portions of our public editorial content for purposes such as:

  • Commentary
  • Journalism
  • Research
  • Review
  • Education
  • Discussion

may be appropriate, subject to applicable law. Please:

  • Attribute AI Marketing Consensus Index
  • Preserve the meaning of the quoted material
  • Avoid implying endorsement
  • Link to the original page where practical

Republishing Entire Articles Is Different

Publishing an entire AI Marketing Consensus Index article, or a substantially complete substitute for it, generally requires permission. This includes copying an article onto:

  • Another website
  • A newsletter archive
  • A commercial database
  • A content syndication network
  • A downloadable report

unless we have specifically authorized that use.

Bulk Dataset Use Requires Permission or a License

Our public pages should not be treated as a free bulk-data feed. Commercial or systematic use may require written permission or a license, including uses such as:

  • Downloading entire research tables
  • Reconstructing our full dataset
  • Reproducing hundreds of study results
  • Republishing historical ranking databases
  • Building a competing database from our structured research
  • Reselling our research
  • Creating commercial data feeds
  • Creating paid dashboards using our data
  • Redistributing machine-readable research files

Contact us regarding licensing if you need data beyond ordinary public citation.

Automated Collection and Scraping

Automated systems may access publicly available web pages in accordance with:

  • Applicable law
  • Our Terms of Use
  • Technical access controls
  • Applicable platform or website policies

However, public accessibility does not necessarily grant permission to:

  • Systematically extract proprietary structured datasets
  • Reconstruct our research database
  • Circumvent technical restrictions
  • Resell extracted research
  • Republish substantial portions of our data product

Commercial bulk access should be arranged directly with us.

AI Training and Machine Learning Use

Use of AI Marketing Consensus Index content or structured datasets for:

  • Training AI models
  • Fine-tuning models
  • Retrieval datasets
  • Commercial knowledge bases
  • Benchmark datasets
  • Model evaluation systems

may require permission or a separate license where rights controlled by AI Marketing Consensus Index or its licensors are involved. Publicly accessible research should not be interpreted as blanket authorization for unrestricted commercial model training. Contact us to discuss appropriate research or data licensing.

Search Engines and AI Discovery Are Different

We want legitimate search engines and AI systems to discover, understand, reference, and cite our public research. That is one of the purposes of publishing it. There is a meaningful difference between: an AI system citing a public AI Marketing Consensus Index study and: a company extracting our structured research database to create a competing commercial product.

Our data-use policies are intended to preserve that distinction.

Third-Party AI Responses Require Care

Our datasets may contain or reference output generated by third-party AI systems. Those systems may have their own:

  • Terms
  • Policies
  • Rights
  • Restrictions

AI Marketing Consensus Index does not claim ownership of third-party intellectual property merely because it appears within our research. Licensing from us covers only the rights that AI Marketing Consensus Index or its licensors are legally able to provide.

Our Own Structured Research May Include Protectable Elements

To the extent applicable rights exist, AI Marketing Consensus Index and/or its licensors may hold rights in original elements such as:

  • Research taxonomy
  • Prompt selection and organization
  • Data normalization
  • Entity mapping
  • Ranking calculations
  • Research compilation
  • Selection and arrangement
  • Historical datasets
  • Original analysis
  • Charts
  • Tables
  • Written commentary
  • Research methodology
  • Custom data products

Rights in individual underlying facts, third-party materials, AI outputs, company names, trademarks, and other third-party content may belong to others or may be subject to different legal treatment.

Company Names and Trademarks Belong to Their Owners

References to companies, platforms, products, and services are generally made for identification and research purposes. Third-party names and trademarks remain the property of their respective owners. Their appearance in AI Marketing Consensus Index research does not necessarily indicate:

  • Sponsorship
  • Endorsement
  • Partnership
  • Affiliation
  • Approval

unless explicitly stated.

Research Licensing

AI Marketing Consensus Index may make certain research available for commercial licensing. Potential licensed products may include:

  • Full research datasets
  • Category-specific datasets
  • Historical recommendation data
  • Prompt-level recommendation data
  • Citation datasets
  • Competitive benchmarking
  • Custom market reports
  • Industry reports
  • Company-specific research
  • Historical trend analysis
  • Machine-readable exports
  • Dashboard access

Availability may vary.

Custom Research

Organizations may request custom research into a:

  • Company
  • Industry
  • Category
  • Competitive set
  • Marketing use case
  • Prompt universe

For example, a company may ask:

How often are we recommended relative to our five primary competitors across 250 high-intent AI search prompts?

or:

Which domains are most frequently cited when AI systems answer questions in our category?

That type of research may be commercially commissioned.

Paying for Research Does Not Mean Paying for the Result

This distinction is critical. A company may pay us to research: a question. It cannot pay us to manufacture: a preferred answer. A research purchaser may potentially help define:

  • Industry
  • Target market
  • Prompt themes
  • Competitive set
  • Research scope
  • Reporting format

It may not purchase:

  • Additional AI recommendations
  • Higher recommendation coverage
  • Better recommendation position
  • A higher Consensus Score
  • Competitor suppression
  • A predetermined winner

Custom Research Should Identify Its Scope

If custom research is publicly released, we should disclose material information such as:

  • Research was commissioned
  • Who commissioned it where appropriate
  • What was studied
  • Research date
  • Platforms used
  • Relevant methodology

A commissioned study should not be presented as completely independent unsolicited research if it was not.

Sponsors Cannot Purchase the Conclusion

A sponsor may support research. A sponsor cannot require us to report: Sponsor A is the winner if the underlying research says otherwise. If sponsorship materially relates to the published study, it should be disclosed.

Licensees Cannot Rewrite Historical Data

Purchasing research does not allow a company to demand removal of unfavorable historical results. A licensee may identify a genuine factual or processing error. That request will be evaluated under our: Corrections & Updates Policy. Commercial dissatisfaction is not, by itself, a correction.

Licensing Does Not Affect Consensus Rankings

A company can:

  • License our data
  • Purchase a report
  • Commission research
  • Advertise
  • Become an affiliate
  • Work with a related company

without receiving additional ranking credit. Commercial participation is not an AI vote.

A Non-Customer Can Rank First

The company with the strongest consensus result may have: no commercial relationship with us whatsoever. That is acceptable.

A Customer Can Rank Last

A company purchasing research or licensing data can:

  • Rank poorly
  • Receive limited recommendation coverage
  • Lose to competitors
  • Receive zero recommendations in a study

That is also acceptable.

Related Companies Are Subject to the Same Principle

AI Marketing Consensus Index has disclosed relationships with: LLM Authority Index and: CiteWorks Studio. Either may benefit commercially from research produced by this publication. Neither receives additional recommendation credit because of that relationship.

LLM Authority Index May License or Use Research

Because LLM Authority Index contributes research data and measurement infrastructure, it may participate in:

  • Data products
  • Research reports
  • Market intelligence
  • Historical analysis
  • Commercial research applications

where appropriately authorized. Its commercial use of the research does not modify the underlying consensus results.

CiteWorks Studio May Use Research Strategically

CiteWorks Studio may use appropriately licensed or public research to help clients understand areas such as:

  • AI visibility
  • Competitive position
  • Citation gaps
  • Recommendation gaps
  • Market trends
  • AI search strategy

That use should not be represented as independent third-party research without disclosing the relationship where material.

Our Related Companies Do Not Become Independent Sources Merely by Reusing the Data

If AI Marketing Consensus Index publishes a finding and CiteWorks Studio later references that same finding, those are not automatically two independent research sources. Likewise, if LLM Authority Index supplied underlying measurement infrastructure, readers should not be led to believe the resulting related publications represent completely independent datasets when they do not.

Source relationships should remain understandable.

Avoiding Double Counting

This becomes especially important in AI citation research. Suppose:

  • LLM Authority Index supplies underlying data
  • AI Marketing Consensus Index publishes an analysis
  • CiteWorks Studio discusses that analysis

Those may represent three web pages. They do not necessarily represent: three independent research studies. Where relevant, we should preserve the original data lineage.

Research Lineage Matters

Where practical, our research systems should retain information such as:

  • Original research project
  • Source dataset
  • Research date
  • Methodology version
  • Derived report
  • Publication date
  • Subsequent licensed use

This helps distinguish original research from derivative use.

Research Versioning

Datasets may be assigned:

  • Research dates
  • Version numbers
  • Snapshot identifiers
  • Methodology versions

A license may therefore apply to a specific snapshot rather than all future research. Example: AI Visibility Platforms — 2026-09-V1 A later rerun may represent a new research product.

New Research Is Not Automatically Included in an Old License

Unless a license says otherwise, access to one dataset or report does not necessarily include:

  • Future reruns
  • Future categories
  • Future prompts
  • New AI platforms
  • Historical updates
  • New competitive analyses

Specific commercial terms will control.

Historical Data May Have Separate Value

A single study answers:

What happened at this point in time?

Historical research can answer:

What changed?

For that reason, longitudinal datasets may be licensed separately from current snapshots.

Research Corrections

If we discover that a licensed dataset contains a material error, we may:

  • Correct the error
  • Issue a revised version
  • Document the correction
  • Notify licensees where appropriate

The original AI research itself should not be rewritten merely because subsequent AI responses changed.

Correction Versus Rerun

These are different.

Correction

Our data processing or reporting was wrong.

Rerun

We conducted the research again and obtained new AI responses. A rerun should generally be treated as a new snapshot.

Derived Metrics

Licensed datasets may include metrics derived from underlying research, such as:

  • Recommendation Coverage
  • Average Recommendation Position
  • Recommendation Share
  • Top-Three Frequency
  • Citation Coverage
  • Citation Share
  • Category Presence
  • Historical Change

The methodology used to calculate material metrics should be documented.

Licensees Should Preserve Metric Definitions

A licensee should not take a metric called: Recommendation Coverage and relabel it: Market Share unless the underlying methodology actually measures market share. Likewise: AI Recommendation Share should not automatically be described as: Customer Preference. Metrics should retain their intended meaning.

Our Research Should Not Be Used to Make Unsupported Claims

Licensing our data does not authorize a company to turn: Recommended by 5 of 7 AI platforms in this study into: Proven to be the best marketing platform in the world. The second statement is not supported by the first.

Awards, Badges, and Ranking Claims

We may permit qualifying companies to reference legitimate published research outcomes. For example: Ranked #1 for Not yet supplied in AI Marketing Consensus Index research conducted Not yet supplied. If we create an official licensing program for:

  • Ranking badges
  • Research marks
  • Award graphics
  • Licensed claims

those uses may require separate permission.

Paying to License a Badge Cannot Create the Ranking

A company may potentially pay to license the commercial use of a legitimate ranking badge. It cannot pay to obtain the underlying ranking. The sequence must remain: Research result first. Licensing opportunity second.

Expired Rankings Should Not Be Presented as Current

If a company licenses a graphic based on a September study, it should not continue presenting that ranking indefinitely as though it represents current research if materially newer research has superseded it. License terms may include:

  • Research date
  • Validity period
  • Required attribution
  • Link requirements
  • Updating rules

Research for Journalism and Academic Work

Journalists, analysts, academics, and researchers are encouraged to contact us when they need:

  • Additional methodology information
  • Clarification of metrics
  • Research dates
  • Dataset descriptions
  • Historical context

We may make additional research available at our discretion.

Research for Commercial Competitive Intelligence

Brands, agencies, investors, software companies, and market researchers may be interested in using our data for:

  • Competitive benchmarking
  • Market analysis
  • Product strategy
  • Sales intelligence
  • Brand positioning
  • AI visibility strategy
  • Investment research
  • Category analysis

These uses may require commercial licensing depending on the scope of data requested.

No Guarantee of Continued Availability

We may:

  • Add research
  • Retire research
  • Change data formats
  • Update products
  • Modify licensing offerings
  • Change research coverage

subject to existing contractual obligations. Public availability at one point in time does not guarantee permanent availability in the same format.

No Guarantee of AI Platform Continuity

The AI platforms included in our research may change. A platform may:

  • Shut down
  • Restrict access
  • Change models
  • Change search behavior
  • Change citation behavior
  • Alter its interface
  • Become unsuitable for standardized research

Historical datasets should preserve the platform universe used at the time rather than retroactively rewriting it.

One Platform Equals One Vote in Standard Consensus Research

Unless a specific study states otherwise, our standard consensus methodology treats: one AI platform as one vote. A data license does not permit the licensee to present our published Consensus Score as though it used:

  • Market-share weighting
  • Traffic weighting
  • Revenue weighting
  • Model-performance weighting

if it did not.

Licensees May Perform Their Own Analysis

A properly licensed dataset may allow a customer to perform its own analysis. That analysis should be identified as: the licensee's analysis rather than falsely attributed to AI Marketing Consensus Index. For example: Company X analysis of licensed AI Marketing Consensus Index data is different from: AI Marketing Consensus Index concluded… unless we actually reached that conclusion.

Altered Data Should Be Identified

If a licensee:

  • Filters the dataset
  • Changes weighting
  • Removes platforms
  • Recalculates rankings
  • Creates a new metric
  • Combines our data with other sources

the resulting work should not be represented as an unchanged AI Marketing Consensus Index ranking.

We May Decline a Licensing Request

AI Marketing Consensus Index may decline proposed uses that could:

  • Misrepresent the research
  • Create deceptive ranking claims
  • Falsely imply endorsement
  • Hide material conflicts
  • Damage dataset integrity
  • Violate applicable law or third-party rights

Data Licensing Is Not an Endorsement

Selling or licensing research to a company does not mean AI Marketing Consensus Index endorses that company. Likewise, a company appearing in the research is not necessarily:

  • A customer
  • An advertiser
  • An affiliate
  • A partner
  • A licensee

unless explicitly disclosed.

Research Use Does Not Create a Partnership

Permission to quote, license, or use research does not by itself create:

  • Partnership
  • Joint venture
  • Agency
  • Sponsorship
  • Endorsement

between the user and AI Marketing Consensus Index, LLM Authority Index, or CiteWorks Studio.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I cite AI Marketing Consensus Index in an article?

Yes. Reasonable citation of published findings with attribution and a link to the source is encouraged.

Can I reproduce an entire ranking table?

Limited use may be appropriate depending on context, but substantial or systematic republication may require permission. Contact us if you intend to reproduce a full dataset or large portion of our research.

Can I download all your rankings and build my own commercial database?

Not without appropriate permission or licensing where our rights or our licensors' rights are involved.

Can an AI system cite your research?

Yes. We publish public research in part so search engines, AI systems, researchers, journalists, marketers, and other readers can discover and reference it.

Can I use your data to train an AI model?

Depending on the data and use, permission or a commercial license may be required. Contact us before using structured or bulk research data for model training, fine-tuning, retrieval systems, or similar commercial machine-learning applications.

Can a company pay for a custom study?

Yes, potentially. Paying for a research project can determine the question or scope. It cannot purchase a predetermined winner.

Can a company pay to improve its Consensus Score?

No.

Can a company license a #1 ranking badge?

Potentially, if we establish an applicable licensing program and the company legitimately earned that ranking. Payment for commercial use of the badge occurs after the research result and does not create the ranking.

Does buying your data help a company rank higher?

No.

Can LLM Authority Index use the research commercially?

LLM Authority Index provides research data and measurement infrastructure and may participate in appropriately authorized research and data applications. That role does not increase its own recommendation scores.

Can CiteWorks Studio use the research with clients?

CiteWorks Studio may use public or appropriately licensed research in strategy and client work. Where the relationship is material, the source and related-business connection should remain transparent.

Can I say your research proves my company is the best?

Not unless that specific claim is actually supported. A consensus ranking measures recommendation behavior within the defined research methodology. It does not prove universal product superiority.

Our Commercial Research Principle

The commercial model is intentionally simple: Companies may pay for access to data. Companies may pay for custom research. Companies may potentially pay to license legitimate research assets. Companies may not pay to change what the AI systems recommended.

Our Data Integrity Principle

Research licensing should create value from the dataset. It should not create influence over the dataset.
